Innovation Cup

Great minds come
together at Merck

As a participant in our Innovation Cup, you get a chance to network with top students from around the world, work in teams to develop new innovative ideas for unmet medical need, and build a business case with support from experienced professionals. We are offering shared prizes of €20,000 for the winning team and €5,000 for the runner-up. Selected top performing participants could get an offer for a permanent employment at Merck. The Innovation Cup summer camp takes place on 26th June – 2nd July 2021, near Frankfurt, Germany provided the pandemic situation allows it. Your travel, accommodation and food expenses are paid for by Merck.

Future Insight Prize

The Future Insight Prize will put the vision for ambitious dream products of global importance for humankind into the world and will trigger curiosity and creativity worldwide on how to make this vision a reality. We intend to give out up to EUR 1,000,000 annually for the next 35 years to incentivize people whose work has enabled significant progress towards making this vision a reality via discovering new ground-breaking science or via development of enabling technologies.

    A Jury comprising experts from all over the world will identify suitable candidates for the Future Insight Prize.

    Additionally, proposals for Future Insight Prize candidates can be sent to the Jury (no self-nominations).

    Amongst all of these candidates, the Jury will select the top individuals whom are invited to submit a formal application for the prize.

    The Jury will evaluate these applications and select the winner of the Future Insight Prize.

    The winner will be publicly announced and present their research at the Future Insight Conference.

Life Science Awards

The Life Science Awards recognize the innovation that the academic community brings to the future of life science. It is our goal to foster the development of post-graduate students interested in a career in life science and advance technologies which can transform the industry.

How to apply

    A curriculum vitae (CV) summarizing education, graduation date, work experience, all publications and external presentations, relevant skills and interests, and leadership activities.

    An application statement (800 words or less, plus graphs/figures) summarizing the context, relevance and impact of the research, key accomplishments, interest in the life science sector, and future plans.

  • null

    A 300-word or less abstract for the presentation that will be given if chosen as an award finalist.

  • null

    A recommendation letter (1-3 pages) from your advisor discussing what makes you stand out and why you should be considered for this award.

    The winner will be publicly announced and present their research at the Future Insight Conference.
